TokyoTreat & Sakuraco create monthly snack boxes to let you experience Japan from the comfort of your own home with seasonal and limited edition snacks and drinks. We’ve teamed up with them to show you what’s inside so here’s a look at the current boxes which are available now, both themed around Tsukimi, Japan’s moon viewing tradition – look out for a special discount below!

TokyoTreat – Snacktastic Moonfest
The beginning of autumn in Japan is marked by Tsukimi and the harvest moon festival, and what better way to observe a lunar celebration than with with TokyoTreat’s moon-viewing themed box. Each monthly box is filled with limited-edition KitKats, specialty-flavoured Japanese chips, seasonal treats, and occasional Japanese sodas that are only available in Japan for a limited time. This month there are 13 different sweet and savoury items, including a full size bag of KitKats, instant soup and Pokemon jellies, plus a colour booklet. 3 items in our box are not veggie-friendly (including the soup).
Emma’s Favourites
- Moontastic Pudding Mochi – Tastes more like cream filling than custard, but still deliciously squishy and not too sweet.
- Mini Matcha Baumkuchen – The perfect balance of bitter and sweet that you want from a matcha dessert and it’s super moist too.
- Seaweed Salt Potato Chips – Thicker salted potato crisps sprinkled with seaweed, which are simple but delicious.
- Choco Dream Star Bites – These are like a cross between chocolate cereal and wafer biscuits with chocolate cream inside. They’ve got a light and airy texture and a great chocolate flavour; much richer than I thought they’d be.
- Honey Butter Puffs – These taste exactly like honey and butter on toast and make me feel very nostalgic!

Sakuraco – Autumn Moon Festival
Experience the Autumn Moon Festival and and welcome the new season under the warm glow of the harvest moon with a box of Sakuraco snacks. Each monthly box contains 20 traditional, authentic, and artisan Japanese snacks from local snack makers across Japan, including Japanese teas, a special Japanese tableware item and a full colour booklet. For this month’s box, there’s lots of rabbit-themed treats like manju, cookies and candy, plus Gokokucha five grain tea and a charming Tsukimi Yunomi ceramic teacup. Only 1 item isn’t suitable for vegetarians (cheese arare).
Marceline’s Favourites
- Tsukimi Cookie – A beautiful hand-crafted biscuit in 3 coloured layers that tastes as good as it looks with a lovely crumbly texture.
- Usagi Manju – I spent a long time admiring this adorably round bunny-shaped cookie but eventually ate it to find a subtly-sweet white bean paste inside.
- Tsukimi Mikan Cream Cookie – Similar to the sakura cookies from the spring but these are even better with a bunny print and a tart citrus cream sandwiched between the 2 crisp wafer cookies.
- Japanese Pudding Dorayaki – 2 mini pancakes with a generous filling of custard cream and caramel sauce. You get a whole bag of individually-wrapped dorayaki so you can share or save them.
- Salt Truffle & Cheese Arare – Crunchy savoury rice cracker tubes with a creamy cheese filling. Not for everyone but I enjoyed the strong flavours.
