While we’ve always been a fan of keeping things spooky cute all year round, celebrating Halloween again in the summertime – aka Summerween – is turning into a real trend now. It’s especially good news for kawaii fans as there’s a lot more colour around than just orange and black. You can find summer spookiness at big stores and brands but here’s some cute things I’ve found from kawaii artists and makers on Etsy.
Lydia Jean Art (US) is a must-visit for creepy cute art and has fully embraced Summerween. The huge range of cute items includes postcards, stickers, art prints, badges and more, with ghosts and ghouls enjoying summer pool days, camping trips and summer treats. Most fun of all are these Hot Ghoul Summer can cozies, which fit any standard drink to keep it cool.
You can always rely on Em & Sprout (US) for the most kawaii Halloween designs for all year round. These purple Jack O Lantern slides (US sizes 6-11) are perfect for pool days and around the house with a squishy sole for comfort. Check out the new range of Activewear too – it’s currently only available through their main shop.
Protect yourself from the sun with a Summerween Society cap, embroidered to order in-house by Stitchess (UK). There’s 6 vintage wash colours available to match your style, plus a sweatshirt design too.
I chopped my hair much shorter to keep cool but if you’d rather clip it up, Kawaii Hair Candy (US) has the sweetest handmade hair accessories in lots of pastel colours. How can you resist a happy plush bat hair clip?
Finish things off with a tiny Halloween Ghost necklace from Ey Up Chuck (UK). It’s made from iridescent acrylic to catch the light and will reflect different colours in the sunshine. You can also get matching earrings.
Say Fetch (US) create cute pet products and their towels (in 2 sizes) are full of colourful Summerween vibes that will have your pup begging for a beach trip. This Spooky Ice Cream design is my favourite but there’s lots more, and a few bandanas too.
Bunting is such a classic summer decoration and this Halloween Ghost bunting would be fun for a Summerween party but also works for October. Each set is handmade by Cwtchy Designs (UK) and 2m long with custom orders available too.
Tilda Loves Teddy (UK) is a dream for pastel rainbow fans with so many cute ghosts to decorate with. These kawaii ghost ornaments would definitely stay up around my house all year round! There’s also pumpkins, cupcakes, skulls and more, and even wreaths. Everything is handmade to order from plaster so you’ll have a truly unique item.
