The ARTBOX Cafe in Brighton, UK is now a My Melody & Kuromi Tea Shop with super cute food, adorable decor and a shop full of Sanrio treats!

After a very long stay by Hello Kitty & Friends, it’s time for a slightly new theme at the ARTBOX Cafe, focusing on popular rivals My Melody & Kuromi. Their contrasting personalities and styles make it a perfect mix for all kind of kawaii fans, whether you prefer things pink and sweet or dark and savoury.

They have made a big change this time and will no longer take reservations or have a sit-down menu. Instead, it’s a counter service and the seating upstairs is open to all customers. The decor is so pretty with a floral theme and lots of bows and ruffles. Without reservations it means that everyone can have a chance to experience the cafe and take plenty of photos, and you’ll be able to wait for a seat at busy times.

They have a selection of sweet and savoury treats and drinks to order, many of which are vegan and gluten free. Everything is available for takeaway too – and can be packaged in adorable gift boxes. We’ll have to wait and see whether this is a positive change – it feels a little sad to lose the meal options but it’s also more accessible for unplanned trips and smaller budgets.

Although you may just end up blowing your budget in the Sanrio boutique instead, as it’s full of kawaii goodies with all the characters and Sanrio Originals items from Japan. There’s even 3 new exclusive enamel pins that you can only buy at the cafe for a special souvenir. If you can’t visit in person, there’s always new things online at the ARTBOX shop too, who ship worldwide.
The ARTBOX Cafe is a permanent cafe in Brighton, UK and open 7 days a week. The My Melody & Kuromi Tea Shop theme will be around for at least the rest of 2025 so plenty time to plan a trip. Keep an eye on @artbox_cafe on Instagram for updates and any seasonal changes.
