Emma has been sharing her visits to the Ghibli Park and Ghibli Museum recently but if you can’t make it to Japan any time soon, here’s a roundup of the best online shops worldwide for official and licensed Ghibli merch. They all ship worldwide unless stated.
Donguri Republic (JP)
Your first stop should always be Donguri Republic, the official Japanese online store for Studio Ghibli, as they have the widest range of products to browse for all their movies and characters, however obscure. The details are always perfect and you can really outfit yourself from head to toe and decorate your whole house with your favourite Ghibli characters. Just look at this new Jiji collection which includes numerous bags and pouches; plush, mugs and decor items that look like things from the movie, and even a dress, headband and bag to cosplay as Kiki. The major downside is that they don’t ship outside Japan but you can still order using a forwarding service and many items will be available from the shops listed below.
Maison Ghibli (EU)
Maison Ghibli are an official distributor for Europe based in France and stock most items from Donguri Republic, plus items exclusive to Europe, like 2025 calendars in English & French. There’s a huge range to choose from, with plush, figures, home & kitchen, puzzles, collectibles and lots more. You do need to patient though – many items are ‘upcoming’ so you’ll need to sign up to be notified when they’re available.
Oshoppu (UK)
UK Ghibli fans can shop at Oshoppu for quick shipping and no customs fees. You’ll find a decent range of Donguri Republic items including plush, figures, bags, homeware, lifestyle accessories and even a few Ghibli Park exclusives. They also do regular preorders so you can be sure of getting popular new items. Don’t forget SCK readers get 15% off everything in store (excluding sale items/lucky bags/subscriptions) with the code SCK15.
Hot Topic & BoxLunch (US)
US fans are lucky to have both Hot Topic and sister company BoxLunch and each have a slightly different range of products so make sure to check both. I think BoxLunch has a wider range with more home and lifestyle items and cuter designs/colours. While you will find some Donguri Republic items, the main draw is their own exclusive designs. The apparel is especially amazing with t-shirts, cardigans, dresses and jackets (usually available in XS-3X + kids sizes) but there’s also bags, keychains, jewellery, home & kitchen, stationery and more.
CDJapan (JP)
If you just want to focus on the movies, CDJapan is the place to go for books and music. They have soundtracks for all the movies on CD & vinyl, plus sheet music, art books – including the Ghibli Park Official Guide Book – recipe books, manga, magazines, calendars and even some puzzles and figures. Remember it will all be in Japanese but it’s so much easier now with the Google Translate camera app.
