Today is Blue Monday and while I don’t really believe in that, I thought it could be a good time to share some self care tips and ideas.
Be creative
For me, making something can help. I like having a physical object I’ve made to be proud of- visible proof of having done something.
The amigurumi frog pattern by pitacrochet could be crocheted quickly, or you might prefer this tortoise embroidery patch kit by Ellbie Co. (UK).
Stay hydrated
Staying hydrated helps your body and your mood. I should really take my own advice here! While water might be best, remember anything is better than nothing.
Do you have a favourite cup, like maybe this soot sprite mug from VillainVille (UK)? Or the strawberry glass is from Bunteshaus (EU).
Be kind to yourself
Taking time out, to be by yourself can help. Listen to music, sleep, do something you enjoy. You do not have to be productive all the time. It’s okay to just exist. These cute self care stickers by sleepiestdesigns (UK) would make good reminders to look after yourself.
Don’t isolate yourself
At the same time, being social can help. Humans are social creatures. Message a friend, video call or meet up? Hugging my cats helps me – if you don’t have a pet, hug a favourite plushie, like a giant Alpacasso from Tofu Cute (UK) or The Littlest Gift Boutique (CAN).
Practice mindfulness
Mindfulness helps some people, though it isn’t right for everyone. One mindfulness activity is colouring.
Try a sweary colouring book from Sugar & Sloth (UK) or a Moomin colouring book (UK/|US).
Please remember that self care looks different for everyone and is not a substitute for professional help. Reach out.
