It’s already typhoon season here in the Philippines, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look forward to sunnier days! After all, I’ve lived in tropical countries my entire life and have spent more than my fair share of time packing bags for summer trips.
My beach/pool day bag is already pretty much good to go once the rain lets up; all I need is a water bottle, some cash, and other regular essentials. I’ve also included some similar finds here so you can grab some cute must-haves for your next getaway.
I’ve since started using the mesh tote from the Summer 2023 Pusheen Box for my getaways, and you might have already spotted this in the Pusheen Box favorites post. It’s perfect to carry your beach/pool essentials or even show off your love for ice cream while doing some shopping at the market for summer fruits. For something similar, CraftByLil (VN) has a colorful mesh beach tote apt for the season, with its bright hues and crocheted charm add-ons.
Similarly, you might have spotted Ping Hatta Studio’s (TH) pink cat meme one-piece if you’ve been a long-time reader. This pretty much embodies kawaii swimwear for summer, and I can never stop gushing about it even in real life (if it weren’t already obvious enough how much I love it). I’ve started using cute rubber slippers like this pink bear pair I picked up at a local store. I love how they’re pretty versatile in that you can wear them while lounging at home, doing quick errands, or walking along a sandy beach. If you’re looking for other options aside from water shoes and flip flops, A Cute Shop (TW) has a pair of bright pink My Melody summer slippers that you can use at a beach, pool, spa, or at home. Sun protection is a must, which is why I make sure to bring sunscreen with a high SPF level and PA++++ protection. The one I use is by Human Heart Nature, a local personal care brand, which promises to be skin-safe and reef-friendly. I also found Sun Bum’s (US) Signature SPF 50 Mineral Lotion which features their infamous ape mascot Sonny and packs a punch in high-performance broad spectrum & non-nano zinc mineral protection.
Not all beaches/pools have towels you can borrow or rent, so I bring my Kuromi face and bath towel set just to be safe. Vacations aside, though, I know towels aren’t as popular at KPop concerts anymore with the advent of banners and especially glowsticks.
