New At San-X This Month

Let’s have a look at what’s happening at Japanese kawaii brand San-X for March. There’s new themes for Jinbe-san and Ishiyowa-chan, plus Kogumachan’s 10th anniversary and a visit to San-X Town. Shopping links and info is at the end of the post and some of the collections also have free wallpapers.

It’s been ages since Jinbe-san had a new collection but Donut Island is worth the wait. It features Jinbe-san and his cute whale and shark friends who discover a mysterious island with a hole in the middle that contains a delicious and fun world full of donuts.

I always love a dessert theme and this one is so good. I want pretty much everything. The plush are all amazing, especially the 3 stuck inside donuts and the big squishy Jinbe-san pillow. The donut coin purse is also very cute and there’s more bags and pouches, and lots of stationery too.

It’s a little hard to believe that we’re already celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chairoikoguma/Kogumachan but here we are. It’s rare for the little forest bear to get the full spotlight so fans will love this new Kumakyun Days collection that only has bit parts for Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma & Kiiroitori.

Bags and pouches are a big theme this month and San-X have come up with some really cute and useful designs for all the collections. I really love the 3 in this design with a multi-binder, mini wallet and pen pouch that all have lots of pockets and features, plus there’s some hanging pouches as well. You also get a big choice of adorable plushies in various sizes – including a bag and a hilarious made to order celebration plush – plus plenty of selection of stationery.

Ishiyowa-chan has grown a little out of his initial characterisation as a weak-willed dog who always puts things off until tomorrow. After making friends with Kouhai-chan the cat over their shared love of the same “oshi” (favourite idol), this new I Love My Oshi collection shows the friends expressing their overflowing feelings of love. It’s full of the sort of items idol fans would buy, including sticker/card collecting book, photo keyrings, badges and stickers, along with plush, bags and lots of beauty items.

If you’re a long-time San-X fan, you’ll be happy to hear that “the magical power of San-X fairies” has created San-X Town where all the characters can hang out together. It’s mostly stationery and blind bags (for mini plush, acrylic stands, stickers and straps) and with a few bags & accessories too. There’s more retro character releases too, this time focusing on Mamegoma, Twin Rabbit Angels, Mikan Bouya & Monokuro Boo. There’s some incredible shaker stickers (not available online), mini sticker binders, lots of cute pouches, stationery and more.

How to buy San-X

All the products for March are in the San-X shop now. Almost everything listed is available to buy now, with some things coming soon, but you’ll need to use a forwarding service outside Japan. Otherwise you need to keep an eye on official resellers, who may also have items that are already sold out at San-X. AmiAmi (JP) does pre-orders before release, Kawaii Republic (JP) and Meccha Japan (JP) do both pre-order and in stock items, while Very Goods (JP) usually add most items within a few days or weeks. International shops can take longer, from weeks to many months – we recommend Cuteness (EU – also do preorders), ARTBOX (UK) and Oshoppu (UK). Use our guide to The Best Kawaii Shops Worldwide for more options. US fans also now have an official San-X store on Amazon, mostly with products made for the US market.
