Our favourite kawaii characters are ready for the holidays so let’s look at the cutest festive plushies from Sanrio, Pokemon, San-X, Pusheen, Chiikawa and more.
Sanrio Japan have dressed Hello Kitty & Friends up in festive outfits themed around Christmas trees, Santa and gingerbread this year. You can buy them all via Meccha Japan (JP), along with blind box mini plush and a matching pouch. The holiday shop is open at Sanrio USA and while there aren’t many plush this year, the decorations and homeware are well worth a look. UK fans should head to ARTBOX for some new and exclusive ARTBOX Cafe merch – there’s lots of pins to choose from, plus a hanging ornament and tote bag.
Chococat fans will be delighted to see the new Hot Chocolate plush at Build-A-Bear (global), along with Sugar Cookie Cinnamoroll. The Christmas collection also includes a gingerbread axolotl, sugar cookie capybara, pastel penguin and light-up reindeer!
The Pokemon Center (UK/US) have a Holiday Wishes theme this year and surprisingly Pikachu isn’t my favourite for once. That honour goes to the adorable sleeping Sylveon plush with a little gingerbread Eeevee cookie! All the keychain/ornament plush are sweet too, especially Goomy snowman. You’ll also find tons more cute stuff including ornaments, home decor, kitchenware, pins, pyjamas, and sweaters. Availability depends on your region.
We already featured the Rilakkuma Honey Forest Christmas and Sumikko Gurashi Blue Twinkle Christmas plush in my latest San-X post so check that for more details. Instead, let me highlight this amazing Christmas tree plush. It comes with the little frozen dust ball but you can swap in any mini tenori plush (or a similar size) and pop the hat on top. Some of the other Christmas plush are out of stock at San-X (JP – requires forwarding service) but you can find them at Kawaii Republic and Meccha Japan (both JP).
Speaking of Kawaii Republic, they have Chiikawa plushies for the holidays. These ‘Present For You’ plush with Chiikawa, Hachiware & Usagi are very sparkly for Christmas, and there’s also 6 of the characters in fluffy bear costumes.
It already sold out, but I still have to include this year’s Santa Paws Pusheen plush in case you didn’t see it. The Pusheen Shop (US) still has lots to enjoy in their holiday collection including a Santa Paws tree ornament, new Christmas sweater and stocking, pet gifts and the Yule Log and Gingerbread plushies from previous years. And don’t forget about the Winter Pusheen Box & Cat Kit, which will both have a Winter Wonderland theme and should arrive before Christmas.
Jellycat continue to come up with the most fun designs for Christmas plush (UK/US) including costumed versions of their most popular characters, festive food and a snowglobe, tree and star. Some plush are sold out online but you may be able to find them at Jellycat stockists near you (UK/US).
If I could have one new plush to add to my Christmas decorations, it would be a tough choice between these adorable new Meowchi plush from Tasty Peach Studios (US). Both Gingerbread Meowchi and Winter Snow Meowchi would fit in with my gang perfectly and I love all the cute details and the sitting up style.
