It’s only two weeks until Halloween and if you’re looking for a spooky season project, we have loads of new kawaii designs to share this year. We’re starting with craft kits that include everything you need so you can begin straight away, and some of these have a digital download too if you don’t have time to wait for shipping.

ShopZoki (US) has released a spooky new wizard clay kit to make cute capybara and frog wizard clay figurines. This is suitable for beginners and uses air dry foam clay. Since you get 2 kits, it would be a fun option for craft day with a friend.

The Woobles (US) have lots of Halloween crochet kits including bundles, character collabs and glow in the dark yarn. The duo of Maisey the Candy Corn and Hal the Jack-o’-lantern looks like one of the easier options and would make cute decorations or keychains. (If you’re in the UK, you’ll be redirected to their new UK shop which sadly has no Halloween or collabs – yet?).

Amigurumi Adventures have teamed up with Hobbii this year for a Moonlight Magic crochet-along to make this adorable Halloween wreath. The kits are sold out now but I’m including it anyway as you can still get the digital pattern for free and pick up your own supplies. It’s only free for a limited time so don’t wait.

If you prefer cross stitch, The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery (US) are currently running a Halloween Snow Globe Club to make 4 spooky cute ornaments. Two designs have been released so far so you still have time to join in for the second half, or make them at your own pace. There’s also a digital pattern.

The Make Arcade (UK) has a lot of different kits for Spooky Stitching Season with both cross stitch and felt. This Halloween Decoration Set has everything you need to create 5 spooky DIY decorations you can turn into ornaments, a garland or even brooches.

I am delighted to have discovered Fat Pom Poms (UK) and especially their cute ghosts! The Ghost Garland Pom Pom DIY Kit has enough supplies for 6 ghosts and you can choose any 2 colours of yarn to suit your decor. There’s also smaller kits for a single ghost, plus digital tutorials and finished pompoms.

I’ve featured the ghost embroidery patterns from Tales from the Hoop before but these new Little Witches are super cute too and look so tactile. I couldn’t choose between Cordelia Moonflower, a girl about town, and Primrose Thornheart, practicing self care. Both include printed fabric, supplies and a herbal tea bag, plus you can add extras like a hoop.

Last, but not least, a happy little Ghost! This needle felting kit from Hawthorn Handmade (UK) includes British wool, needles and optional foam mat. It doesn’t require any previous experience so if you’ve been wanting to try needle felting, give it a go for a spooky new friend.
Look out for digital downloads and video tutorials next week, or have a browse of our Halloween Crafts, Activities & Recipes section.
