TokyoTreat – Summer Matsuri Snackfest
Let’s celebrate summer with TokyoTreat’s matsuri themed box, full of unique and exclusive treats, so you can enjoy those festival vibes at home. Each monthly box is filled with limited-edition KitKats, specialty-flavoured Japanese chips, seasonal treats, and occasional Japanese sodas that are only available in Japan for a limited time. This month there are 15 different sweet and savoury items, including a full size bag of KitKats, instant noodles and a DIY candy kit, plus a colour booklet. 4 items in our box are not veggie-friendly (including the ramen & candy kit).
Emma’s Favourites
- Chocolate Orange KitKats – Another of my favourite KitKat finds in Japan, featured in a TokyoTreat box. These are so full of flavour and a classic combination.
- DIY Candy Apple – This was actually pretty fun to do! I liked the interactive element and the apple chewy sweets were very moreish. I couldn’t stop eating them…
- Soy Sauce Corn Puffs – Savoury and sweet, with a classic butter soy sauce flavour.
- Eggplant (Aubergine) Miso Soup – This was delicious! Rich, salty miso soup with a decent amount of aubergine, spring onion and seaweed in it.
- Edamame Bites – I was expecting more of a wasabi kick, but these were pretty subtle, which I think more people will appreciate. Crispy and crunchy with a little heat, they would go perfectly as a snack with beer.

Sakuraco – Journey to Okinawa
Take a Journey to Okinawa and experience the warmth, spirit and flavours of Japan’s southern islands with a box of Sakuraco snacks. Each monthly box contains 20 traditional, authentic, and artisan Japanese snacks from local snack makers across Japan, including Japanese teas, a special Japanese tableware item and a full colour booklet. For this month’s box, there’s local flavours & ingredients like mango, brown sugar, purple sweet potato and salt, plus Sanpin jasmine tea and a a beautiful hand-picked ceramic bowl or cup. 3 items aren’t suitable for vegetarians.
Marceline’s Favourites
- Mango Jelly – The perfect fruity treat for hot weather with a lovely smooth texture and strong mango flavour. I popped mine in the fridge to make it extra refreshing.
- Okinawa Almond Caramel Cookie – Crumbly pastry filled with crunchy layers of almond in salted caramel for a sweet and salty snack.
- Okinawa Baked Chocolate – These look like cookies but have a dense fudgy texture that gives them a really rich chocolate taste.
- Kokuto Cinnamon Peanuts – Brown sugar and cinnamon is an unexpected but great combination for these peanuts with a crunchy coating.
- Black Pepper Cheese Kakinotane – Adding cheese to this classic spicy snack makes it far too addictive. I’ll be looking out for these again.
