Regular readers may have noticed we’re having a bit of trouble keeping a full blog schedule so we’re looking to add a few extra writers to the SCK team. Could you be one of them?
At the moment, we are looking for freelance kawaii writers to help out with posts as needed but with the opportunity to become a regular staff writer. You would be expected to create 1-3 short posts a month on general kawaii topics like shopping picks, DIYs etc. It would be a mix of your own ideas and set topics with holiday & seasonal themes.
We’re also interested in hearing from experts who could write longer posts (or create a video) less often on specific themes. This could be writing about life and events in kawaii cities like Tokyo, London, Los Angeles & Seoul or creating original craft tutorials and how to guides.
For both roles, you can work any schedule that suits you and fits around your other responsibilities, holidays etc.
If you’ve applied in the past, and even if you have been rejected previously, you are most welcome to apply again.
Please read before applying
All applicants must be over 18. You can live anywhere in the world but should be fluent in English and able to write clearly and simply for an international and all-ages audience. If you wish to share tutorials, reviews etc. good photography and image editing skills are a must but are otherwise not required.
The form will remain open until the end of August but we may start contacting applicants earlier so the sooner the better! If we like your application we will contact you and ask you to write test posts, which will be paid if published.
By submitting your application you are giving Super Cute Kawaii permission to use your post pitches ourselves with appropriate credit (please leave a note in your application if you do not agree to this).
Payment
Please note that SCK is entirely ad-funded and makes very little profit so while we always pay our writers, you should think of it as pocket money for your hobbies and interests, rather than a side hustle or part time job. Payment will depend on experience and the type of posts you are writing. Basically, if payment is a deciding factor on whether you apply, it’s probably not enough for you! You would receive a small set fee per post and may also receive perks like expenses, press access to events, items for review etc. once you are a trusted member of the team. Payments are organised monthly on a freelance basis and it is your responsibility to comply with your country’s laws regarding self-employment and taxes.
