Here’s a round up of some new cute and fun craft books to pick up or add to your holiday wish list – some are are out now and others are available to pre-order. Kawaii crochet fans are probably already following @knot.bad and now there’s a book too – Knot Bad Amigurumi (UK/US). It has 25 beginner-friendly patterns, all with Vincent’s signature cute faces of course, plus tips and techniques. Out now.
If you’re brand new to crocheting toys or short on time, One-Hour Amigurumi (UK / US) by the author of Hooked on Amigurumi could be a great option. It has 40 patterns that promise to be cute and quick with minimal sewing. Out now (US), 29th Nov (UK).
How to Embroider Almost Every Cute Thing (UK / US) is the sort of book I love to own, even if I never make anything. It has 550 motifs stitched up and then a section with guides and tutorials for the stitches you need. You’ll probably need some embroidery experience to get the most out of this this but it would be lovely to browse through anyway. Out now.
Satisfying Stitches (UK / US) might be a more useful book for anyone new to embroidery or looking to expand their skills. You’ll learn lots of different stitches with step-by-step instructions and then use them to create some pretty nature and floral designs. Out 15th Nov (UK), 17th Jan (US).
Carlianne Tipsey has a really cute vintage drawing style and How to Draw Adorable (UK / US) will help you to do just that. It looks like quite a comprehensive guide with step-by-step examples, design theories, reference images and practice sheets. Out now.
If you’re interested in getting a cutting machine, or making better use of one you already own, The Complete Cricut Machine Handbook (UK / US) is sure to help. It has 24 step-by-step projects using materials like vinyl, paper, HTV and fabric, plus lots of tips, tricks and techniques. Out 15th Nov (US), 20th Dec (UK).
TikTok baking star @Cookingwithamyy has created a very kawaii book of recipes for Super Cute Meringue Cookies, Macarons and Marshmallows (UK / US). It includes 50 recipes and templates for animal, nature and food-themed treats that really look way too cute to eat. Out 13th Dec.
Or if you’re a fan of Cupcake Jemma’s YouTube channel, Jemma and her team now have a book named after their London bakery Crumbs & Doilies (UK / no US publisher yet). There’s a massive 90 recipes to bake at home including cupcakes, layer cakes, cookies, traybakes, brownies and bars. Out 24th Nov.
