To start things off, we’re going to tell you a little bit about our own crafty endeavours. I make things under the name of Asking For Trouble and everything I do is inspired by Japan in some way. I guess I’m mostly interested in pattern so I use a lot of Japanese fabrics and washi, as well as my own photography and illustration. As you can see, I also love the cute!
I make all kinds of things, including fabric purses, keyrings, covered notebooks, stationery, gocco prints and felt flower brooches. At least half of the things I make are one of a kind – I like to use vintage buttons, hand-stitching and gocco printing to make things extra-special; there’s nothing like knowing no-one else has one exactly the same. I also use a lot of fabrics, charms and papers I bought in Tokyo.
I have my own website and shop at www.askingfortrouble.co.uk, and also sell on Etsy and Folksy.
Marceline is the co-founder and editor of Super Cute Kawaii and author of The Super Cute Book of Kawaii. She also designs cute character goods as Asking For Trouble. Having visited Japan five times, Marceline is enormously inspired by all things Japanese and especially loves bunnies, space and any kind of food object with a happy face.
