While curling up with a hot chocolate sounds fabulous in this gloomy miserable weather, I think that a hot chocolate themed dessert might be even better. Plus, for those of you who aren’t fans of hot drinks, these might be just the ticket.
I adore the fact that these macarons from Pies and Tacos come sprinkled with mini marshmallows just like a hot chocolate, but I imagine they’re a little lighter to consume than the real thing, which means you can of course eat more!
Speaking of marshmallows, these hot chocolate cupcakes from Cupcake Jemma come topped with a huge toasted marshmallow and they have a sneaky filling of chantilly too.
The candy canes might give The Little Blog of Vegan’s chocolate sheet cake a Christmas vibe, but I actually love a mint flavour to my hot chocolate at any time of year. The cake is filled with a warm fudge sauce and topped with a cocoa buttercream and might actually be more decadent than the real thing.
While you might not be a fan of a hot drink, Sugar Hero’s ‘hot’ chocolate ice cream floats are more dessert than drink. While hot chocolate is the base, they get cooled down with the addition of ice cream (mint would work wonderfully here, or coffee for a mocha taste), but with the benefits of hot fudge sauce and sprinkles just like on an ice cream sundae.
For those of you who like their hot chocolate piled high with marshmallows, this four-tier chocolate cake from Jane’s Patisserie might be perfect for you as not only is it covered in a mountain of marshmallows, but the buttercream contains marshmallow fluff too.
I wonder if it’s okay to pair your hot chocolate with an equally chocolatey cookie…? I’m sure it is and these from Sugar Spun Run even include a gooey marshmallow in the centre.
However, if you’d prefer your cookie to both taste AND look like a mug of hot chocolate, then these cuties from I Bake You Bake are the ones. The cookies have hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows baked into them and then are iced to look just like a piping hot mug of chocolate. They might challenge your icing skills, but the outcome would be totally worth it.
