It’s National Penguin Day today and apparently we’ve never done a penguin picks post so I had to fix that immediately. Here’s some of the cutest shopping picks and craft patterns I could find from kawaii artists and makers on Etsy.

Toasted Ink Studios (UK) has so many adorable chubby penguins but this Sliding Penguin enamel pin has to be my favourite, and a nice little reminder to have fun. There’s more penguin pins too, plus stickers and notepads.

I adore eskalou‘s (EU) art style and the Emperor Penguins on this eco-friendly sticker sheet have so much character. The baby chick on the bottom right is very much me this January.

Get yourself organised with a to do list notepad from boygirlparty (US), covered in cute penguins. With loads of space and 50 pages (made from recycled paper), it will keep you motivated all year.

Cheer up a boring fridge or whiteboard with a kawaii Igloo Penguins magnet from ShopEmilyM (US) with some cosy penguins having fun in the snow. It even has a UV coating to stop it fading in the sun, something that’s ruined many a magnet in my sunny kitchen.

Make yourself a cute new friend with this DIY amigurumi crochet kit from monpacie (EU). I love how round it is! You can choose from cotton and plush yarn kits, with optional tools, and there’s a set of colourful mini penguins too.

While Berry the penguin is designed to be a Christmas tree ornament, there’s no reason not to make one for a winter decoration or bag charm, and you can always swap the holly design for snowflakes. The digital felt sewing pattern from Nuvolina Handmade also includes Snowflake the owl and is suitable for intermediate sewists.

The modern patchwork style of this penguin embroidery kit from Kirsty Freeman Design (UK) lets you practice various stitches so you’ll have mastered french knots by the end. As well as all the supplies you need, the linen fabric has the outline stitched already so you can get started on filling it in.

This Hamanaka needle felting kit from Japan is a collab with Koupen-chan and too adorable to leave out. The instructions are in Japanese but if you’re familiar with needle felting, it should be easy enough to figure out with the images and Google Translate app. It’s in stock at MonkeyBrian but you can shop around for other resellers.
