Somehow it’s already December and if you’re looking for a project to make for the holidays or a Christmas gift, we have loads of new kawaii designs to share this year. We’re starting with craft kits that include everything you need so you can try something new or at least save yourself a trip to the craft store.

My favourite kit is this Gingerthread House (great name!) by Studio Paca for Canevas Fatal (EU), which would make such a cute decoration. You might remember my SCK Tries post about their vending machine a couple of years ago and it’s exactly the same with half stitch on plastic canvas. There’s also a Christmas magnets kit if you want something smaller and easier.

This gingerbread house at Craft Club (AU) is a lot bigger but the finished rug looks so impressive and would be lovely to bring out every winter. It’s a latch hook kit and suitable all skill levels – if you’re not sure, there’s a video on the page showing how it’s made. It’s currently on pre-order, shipping mid-December, so one to work on over the holidays.

Handmade ornaments make a Christmas tree more personal and they’re lovely to gift as well. Kiriki Press (CAN) has a beautiful series of DIY Stitched Ornament Kits that you can buy individually or as a set. They look very quick to stitch, even for kids, and this gingerbread set is so colourful. There’s also a more traditional set and some woodland animals.

The Make Arcade (UK) have added some new kits for the holidays with both cross stitch and felt. If I hadn’t already bought their Stitch Mail box, I’d be tempted by the Cosy Christmas Felt Decorations kit with a gingerbread man, hot chocolate and mittens.

Little Dear (US) has some really sweet embroidery kits with mini hoops so you can hang them on the tree or wear as a pendant. The Christmas Decor set is my favourite with tiny Candy Cane, Christmas Tree and Holly Leaves designs.

If you prefer cross stitch, Wild Olive (US) has a new kit with a Super Cute Christmas Tree! It’s beginner-friendly and quick to stitch and fits a 4″ hoop for display.

The Woobles (US) have lots of cute Christmas crochet kits including bundles and character collabs. This happy gang are available individually or as a bundle and would make great tree ornaments. Most kits are suitable for beginners and they all come with step-by-step video tutorials. If you’re in the UK, you’ll be redirected to their new UK shop which only has a few Christmas kits, but also some UK exclusives.

Knitters can pick up the latest adorably tiny kit from Mochimochi Land (US). Drool Runnings features two jolly doggies on a bobsled (with candy cane runners!) for a decoration or large tree ornament. There will be a digital pattern soon too.

I’m always talking about making a pom pom wreath for my door and Fat Pom Poms (UK) has some amazing kits with tinsel pom poms! You can choose from a few different colour schemes including pastel. There’s also digital patterns for Christmas pudding, Santa and robin pompom ornaments.
Look out for digital downloads, video tutorials and recipes over the next few weeks, or have a browse of our Christmas Crafts, Activities & Recipes section.
