If you’re looking for a gift for someone creative, Robotime have a huge range of fun kits for all ages and skill levels. We got to try building the ROKR Christmas Dream Gift Factory wooden music box puzzle kit, plus a look at the rest of their Christmas range + offers!

We were actually sent this by mistake and I was happy to try it out as it’s built in a similar way to the Rolife DIY Christmas Melody Tree I made last year. However, a look through the instruction booklet quickly made me realise it was a more advanced kit and a bit beyond me. Luckily, my dad is very handy so he built it in his little workshop over the next few weeks and sent us updates in the family groupchat! So, this isn’t a full review but I thought it deserved more than an Instagram post.

“I’m very impressed with the quality of the kit and the clarity of the instructions. Getting the wiring in the right route was a bit tricky and I made my first mistake by assembling the box/present wrong and got the ribbons the wrong way up and broke one getting it off, but luckily there are spare parts included for any fragile pieces.”

Look at how many pieces there were! My dad found it helpful to bag all the parts for each step as sometimes pieces would pop out of the boards before they were needed. It took 50 bags altogether – so organised. I don’t know if I would recommend this for everyone but it’s an option if you’re worried about losing bits.

He had a bit of trouble with the conveyor belt and had to take it apart to find out what he’d done wrong (this happened to me making the Christmas tree too) but we were all super-impressed when he sent a video with it lit up and moving. “Very relieved this morning to get the conveyor belt finished, fitted and working. Same with the revolving Christmas tree this afternoon, another very tricky piece to assemble.” I think you can probably tell from this video whether you would enjoy making this kit or not!

After that, the rest went together really quickly and we got the full reveal! “I’m very pleased with it and really enjoyed building it. It took 16 days to complete and I did a bit every day apart from two! The tools (screwdriver, metal clippers and wooden push-out tool) and accessories (sandpaper, sanding stick & wax stick) that came with the kit were very good too, very handy and well thought out.”

I’ll share a video on Instagram later, but you can get a more professional look at all the details in Robotime’s video. I’m looking forward to seeing the real thing in action when I visit at Christmas and I’m sure it will be lovely to bring it out again every year. We’d definitely recommend the Christmas Dream Gift Factory kit for anyone who likes a challenge and has the time and space to work on it.

Robotime Christmas kits

If you’d prefer something a bit easier or quicker, some new kits have arrived for the holidays. The Gingerbread House is adorable and made in a similar way to the Super Creator rooms I reviewed recently. There’s also a Christmas Candy Stand, framed scenes, balance toys and even a wreath!

Christmas kits are available now from the Robotime online shop, which ships worldwide from various regional locations. If you’d like to try them, SCK readers get 10% off any order with the code supercutekawaii + there’s currently up to 50% off in the Black Friday sale!

(Kit was provided by Robotime for review but all words, photographs and opinions are our own. Thanks to my dad for all the help with this review!)
