Happy Lunar New Year! 2021 is the Year of the Ox and whether you always celebrate or are just looking for some new crafts to try, be sure to check out these cute ox-themed patterns, crafts and DIYs.

Nikomaki on Etsy is a brand new shop, but they already have a really cute felt ox ornament digital PDF pattern up for Lunar New Year that’s a really inexpensive option if you’re looking for a sewing pattern.

If you don’t have a lot of time to make something, you can always color! The Yullapa shop has a cute Year of the Ox printable coloring page that isn’t too detailed so it would be great for both serious and casual colorists.
Anyone that’s doing a kawaii journal spread about the holiday should check out the Doodles By Sarah channel for her kawaii ox doodle tutorial.
You can go all out with your Lunar New Year decor and crochet yourself a Year of the Ox garland following Mooeyandfriends’ how-to video! It’s so cute you could just leave it up all year.

For the amigurumi enthusiast on the hunt for a free pattern, the All About Ami blog has a new amigurumi ox pattern that’s in depth and also offers convenient links to extra helpful resources (e.g. if you’re a beginner to amigurumi.)
And if you’re more for baking, Loft Laurel’s channel has a recipe and tutorial video for cow shaped butter cookies that look tasty AND cute (if slightly derpy!)
For a relatively quick paper craft project, Kamikey Origami has a cute origami cow/ox tutorial that you can make and adhere onto an origami base (there is a separate video tutorial on the same channel) for a fun New Year display.
You can also find other Chinese zodiac makes in our archives.
Andi lives in the countryside of Georgia in a house packed with kawaii decor and vintage toys. When she’s not barricaded in her pink craft room creating something, she can be found reading, playing Animal Crossing games, or baking something to satisfy her massive sweet tooth. Andi is currently taking a mental health break, but hopes to be back in 2023.
