I recently saw one of my garden’s resident turtles – I’ve named him Hugo, for anyone wondering – and was reminded that turtles don’t always get the recognition they deserve for their cuteness! I decided to do my part and try to right that wrong with a cute turtle-themed craft list.
For anyone who loves paper crafts, Vilgets Origami has an adorable tutorial on how to make an mini origami Umigame. For anyone who hasn’t seen this character, it’s the sea turtle from this year’s Sumikko Sea Life collection! The video shows every step, but there are no text or speech instructions included, so having some prior origami experience may be best in this case.
PolymomoTea has lots of cute turtle projects on his channel, but his most recent turtle tutorial shows you how to make a mini cactus turtle terrarium using polymer clay and resin. I absolutely love this DIY!
If you need some journal inspiration, why not make a turtle spread? You could even include a doodle and follow Draw So Cute’s video on how to draw a baby turtle.
One of my favorite needle felt Etsy shops, BaarDuck, has an adorable chubby turtle needle felt kit available for purchase. It’s a full kit, so it includes all the materials and instructions you will need to make the turtle; the difficulty level is listed as easy, so it’s also beginner friendly.
To top off the list, All About Ami featured a free kawaii amigurumi turtle on her blog last summer that is definitely worth trying out if you’re into crochet crafts. She has separate listings for the pattern and step-by-step photo tutorial, so be sure to check both of them out if you go to make the turtle yourself!
