While I don’t often get to eat fast food or visit diners, I love it as a design theme, and it seems some of our favourite kawaii characters do too. Here’s some recent collections and picks to get diner vibes delivered to your home – sorry if this makes you hungry!

The original inspiration for this post is the adorable Pikachu Diner collection from the Pokemon Center (JP – requires forwarding service). I would order anything that Pikachu recommended to me – the gingham apron and cream & cherry on top are too cute. There’s also plushies of all sizes – including a heart-shaped burger pillow – along with stationery, tote bag glass and apron. Some of the plush is still available from the UK and US stores, or Meccha Japan (JP) have a few left of most other items (and a cute mofusand Diner collection that we’ve featured before).

My Melody & Kuromi have put their rivalry aside to run a diner for an exclusive collection at Box Lunch (US). These enamel pins are a perfect pair but there’s also some really cool retro clothing, including button-up shirt, jacket and gingham blouse, and Loungefly bags too. Of course, if you’re in the UK, you can experience something similar at the My Melody & Kuromi Tea Shop at ARTBOX Cafe in Brighton.

It’s rare to see a character collection that’s mainly stationery but Chiikawa Diner is here and Kawaii Republic (JP) have everything in stock. I love the pastel neon colour scheme and there’s lots of useful items here, like file folders, pencil pouches and sticky notes inside a tiny mug!

San-X’s Chickip Dancers started out with fried chicken characters but have been expanding into other fast food themes including a burger shop. Cuteness (EU) have some plush and stationery in stock, including these fun sticker sheets that let you build your own burger meal.

While the Fast Food collection at Anirollz (US) can be ordered individually, they also have combo deals, much like a real restaurant. The Bite Buddiez Deal gets you both the Kittiroll with fries and Foxiroll with fried chicken plushies, while the Triple Treatz Deal adds a mini stationery set.

Tayto Potato and friends are available as all kinds of diner-themed treats at Smoko (US) including this hilarious Fast Foodies bouquet plush, sure to make anyone’s day much cuter. There’s individual plush too, with all sizes from bag charm to giant burger.

Over the years, Yummy Friends at Kidrobot (US) have been recreating pretty much every snack food you can imagine in kawaii style. This Chicky Meal interactive plush set comes with a stackable chicken sandwich, drink, and waffle fries that all pack up inside the bag.
