TokyoTreat & Sakuraco create monthly snack boxes to let you experience Japan from the comfort of your own home with seasonal and limited edition snacks and drinks. We’ve teamed up with them to show you what’s inside so here’s a look at the current boxes which are available now, both themed around New Year celebrations in Japan. Look out for a special discount at the end too!

TokyoTreat – New Year’s Snacking
Welcome the new year with TokyoTreat’s fun and exclusive snack box, filled with good luck and fun flavours. Each monthly box includes limited-edition KitKats, specialty-flavoured Japanese chips, seasonal treats, and occasional Japanese sodas that are only available in Japan for a limited time. This month there are 13 different sweet and savoury items, including a full size bag of KitKats and instant miso soup, plus a colour booklet. 4 items in this box are not veggie-friendly, including the soup.
My Favourites
- Chocolate Mint Ice Cream KitKats – this Baskin-Robbins collab really does taste like mint choc chip ice cream, and looks like it too. It’s fun, refreshing and perfect for a party snack.
- New Year Rice Cracker – the year of the horse packaging is so kawaii and this huge crunchy cracker has a honey soy sauce coating that’s very moreish.
- Truffle Cheese Bites – super-flaky mini pastries with a strong cheesy filling – and you get 2 packs!
- Tofu Miso Soup – very comforting on a cold winter’s day with tofu cubes and seaweed.
- Fried Potato Sticks – I wish the bag was bigger as these have a lovely soft-but-crisp texture and a strong potato flavour.

Sakuraco – Japan’s New Year Tradition
Experience the joy of a traditional New Year in Japan with a box of Sakuraco snacks that celebrate happiness, longevity and peace. Each monthly box contains 20 traditional, authentic, and artisan Japanese snacks from local snack makers across Japan, including Japanese teas, a special Japanese tableware item and a full colour booklet. For this month’s box, there’s flavours like kinako and red bean and lots of fun new year’s packaging, plus Shizuoka Genmaicha tea and a super cute 2026 Wagashi Calendar. 4 items aren’t suitable for vegetarians (manju, senbei/crackers).
My Favourites
- Year of the Horse Manju – a cute horse-shaped pastry with a soft milk-flavoured filling that pairs perfectly with the tea.
- Custard Taiyaki – I’m glad they included 2 of these as they were delicious with a chewy outside and velvety custard inside.
- Daruma Senbei – I love the daruma design and it’s very crunchy and savoury with a sprinkling of shichimi for a spicy kick.
- Seafood Crackers – So fun to look at with all the bright colours and different shapes. Flavoured with shrimp, crab and nori but more savoury than fishy.
- Kinako Puffed Mochi – these are surprising to bite into as they’re so airy and melt away instantly, leaving you with the nutty kinako powder.
