If learning embroidery – or doing more of it – is one of your new year goals, stick & stitch embroidery packs are an increasingly popular way to get started. Instead of tracing a design from paper, you get a selection of themed designs printed on water-soluble stickers so you just stick them on your chosen fabric (including clothing or bags), stitch over the lines with your favourite stitches and colours, and then soak it in water to dissolve the sticker. There’s loads of designs available so here’s some of the cutest shops I could find.

Of course kawaii embroidery queen Mollie of Wild Olive (US) has some adorable packs available. These Winter Fun Animals are perfect for the season and you get 6 designs that you could turn into mug rugs or use to cheer up a plain winter hat.

Hawthorn Handmade (UK) have a lovely selection of packs inspired by animals, nature, travel and crafts. This Woodland Folk set has 12 folk-inspired animal and plant designs with lots of patterned details to stitch.

If you like a lot of choice, the themed packs at Little Dear (US) all have 19 or 20 designs in Aimee’s whimsical hand-drawn style. The Celestial set would be so cool in metallic or glow in the dark thread, but there’s also Woodland and Floral sets.

Lazy May Sewing Club (UK) was a new find for me and have so many cute and quirky packs available. Cute Doodles has all sorts of fun things to stitch but I also love the British biscuits, Easter eggs and decorative corners.

Stick & stitch embroidery is especially useful for dark-coloured fabrics where tracing can be tricky. Rose Stitch Art (UK) has a set of beautiful floral illustrations that are designed for denim so you can have flowers growing out of your pockets. There’s also woodland and insect packs.

Monograms are a lovely way to personalise a gift and make it more special. Blackbird & Bloom (UK) has Monogram Blooms packs for every letter of the alphabet which include 2 sizes of monogram plus a selection of floral designs. There’s lots of nature-inspired sets too.

Valentine’s Day is coming up and this You Are Loved set from Needless Designs (CAN) would be perfect for making gifts for loved ones – or yourself. You could even turn one into a card, using the card tutorial I made for cross stitch. All their packs are really good value with up to 68 motifs on a theme.

If you don’t already have embroidery supplies, Tales from the Hoop (UK) has you covered as they also sell stick & stick embroidery kits. There’s a few different seasonal designs to choose from, but how sweet is this Summer Corners kit with designs to stitch on napkins?
Have you tried stick & stitch embroidery? I’m definitely going to pick up a set soon.
