Peppermint is one of the key flavours at this time of year, thanks to the ever present candy cane. I am a huge fan, especially when combined with chocolate, so I’ve put together a collection of some of the yummiest sounding recipes for this festive season (and beyond).

These peppermint macarons from Chelsweets are so Christmassy with their candy cane colouring, but the flavour of the peppermint actually comes from the chocolate ganache filling. These could be a delicious gift, an addition to a cookie box, or even just as a small sweet with a hot drink after the meal on the big day.

Planning a Christmas party or just want to add a Christmas cocktail to your repertoire? This pink peppermint cocktail from How Sweet Eats with a base of candy cane vodka (from Shutterbean’s recipe) might just fit the bill.
I’ve shared Cupcake Jemma’s cookie recipes on here before because I have tested them and loved them, but one I’d still like to make are her dark chocolate candy cane cookies with gooey pockets of red and white coloured chocolate filling alongside the peppermint flavour. Yummy!!

This peppermint cheesecake from Pies and Tacos is double layered with both chocolate and peppermint layers AND has a chocolate peppermint ganache poured on top. It sounds luxurious and perfect as an alternative to Christmas pudding.

Brownies are one of my favourite things to bake and while I already have a tried and tested recipe that I love, I’m always looking for ways to upgrade my flavours. This peppermint bark topped brownie recipe from Barley & Sage might be just the thing to try over Christmas as the peppermint and white chocolate would contrast well with a dark fudgy brownie.

Layer cakes are usually reserved for special occasions and I think Christmas is probably one of those times. The Little Blog of Vegan has the prettiest peppermint cake adorned with a Christmas tree and surrounded by snowy icing. She also has a chocolate peppermint nutcracker cake, which I shared in my Nutcracker post earlier this month.
If you’d rather have a cake that’s also decorated with peppermint, then Preppy Kitchen’s peppermint cake is the one. It’s not only topped with shards of peppermint bark, but it has crumbles of candy cane adorning the sides too.

While most of these recipes stick to the classic red and white candy cane theme, Becky Excell’s gluten-free peppermint yule log has embraced the classic minty green instead. Topped with both candy canes and Aero peppermint chocolate, this yummy looking yule log can also be made dairy-free by following the guide for alternate ingredients.

Cook Nourish Bliss has created a dairy free peppermint ice cream so that everyone at your gathering can enjoy it. This would go perfectly with any chocolate desserts you decide to have, or on its own as a refreshing end to a meal.
