Holiday breaks are coming up fast so if you’ve got some extra time on your hands, are planning a crafty get-together or need a last minute gift, try these digital patterns and video tutorials, most of which are free. You can use supplies from your stash, make a quick craft shop stop, or some of these sites have supply packs available.

Rico Design have created another adorable Ricorumi Christmas Crochet Along and the theme this year is Christmas Cups with cute characters that fit inside a festive mug. All 8 crochet patterns are free to download now (in English or German) including a reindeer, arctic fox, gingerbread bear and lucky pickle!

The Amigurumi Advent is in full swing with a new set of super cute crochet patterns inspired by magical snowy village markets, delicious winter feasts and the spirit of friendship! There’s a new pattern every day until Christmas Eve, starting with this stackable tree with space inside for treats. You can see everything so far on their Instagram including lots of cute animals + there’s 20% off until the end of the year.

If you prefer sewing, What A Curly Life is creating another set of free felt sewing patterns for advent ornaments with a new pattern every day, including a video tutorial on Instagram. My favourite so far is the little letter to Santa but there’s so many cute festive animals and some patterns you can personalise, like a bauble, mitten and string lights.
Tiny Craft World has a tutorial and free pattern for a Felt Reindeer Ornament, complete with scarf and red nose. I think this would also be really cute as a brooch. If you don’t have plastic eyes, you can use felt or embroidery instead.

You’re probably not going to get this Purrfect Presents Christmas stocking finished in time for Santa to fill but it’s such a fun retro design and would be lovely to work on over the holidays for next year. Satsuma Street also has smaller cross stitch stocking patterns if you need a faster project,
I’m in love with these happy Origami Paper Gift Boxes by Hello Origami and all you need is some coloured paper, or even leftover gift wrap. Just think how kawaii these would be sitting on the dinner table filled with a little treat for later, or dotted around the house as decorations.
Even easier are these origami Christmas trees from Nice No1-Origami that have space inside for a tea light (not a real one obviously!) and have such a cosy look. They use a craft punch to make holes for the light and the stars are very pretty but your local craft shop should have some other fun designs to try too.
If some of your baubles are looking a bit tired, Hello Kitty and Friends have some clever ideas for Christmas Tree Decorations that turn a boring bauble into Pompompurin or a glittery bow design, plus painting on wood slices. This would be a fun activity with friends to create a bauble for your favourite character in the same way.
