by

TokyoTreat & Sakuraco create monthly snack boxes to let you experience Japan from the comfort of your own home with seasonal and limited edition snacks and drinks. We’ve teamed up with them to show you what’s inside so here’s a look at the current boxes which are available now, themed around Mt Fuji and Nagano + look out for a special discount at the end!

TokyoTreat – Fuji Fall Snackscape

Celebrate the changing season in Japan while staying cosy at home with Autumn flavours and Mt Fuji inspired treats from TokyoTreat’s fun and exclusive snack box. Each monthly box is filled with limited-edition KitKats, specialty-flavoured Japanese chips, seasonal treats, and occasional Japanese sodas that are only available in Japan for a limited time. This month there are 13 different sweet and savoury items, including a full size bag of Premium Hi-Chews and instant ramen, plus a colour booklet. 3 items in this box are not veggie-friendly.

Marceline’s Favourites

  • Melon Hi-Chews – I wish we had more melon flavoured snacks in the UK! These are a softer, juicier take on chewy sweets that’s almost like bubblegum.
  • MIKE Soy Sauce Popcorn – Salty, savoury and extremely moreish! I started sneaking a few while taking photos and then ate the whole bag straight after.
  • Mikan Jelly Bites – I love all Japanese citrus and these mandarin orange jellies have a lovely smooth texture and strong orange flavour.
  • Strawberry White Chocolate Crunky – I’m not always a strawberry fan but this is nicely tart to cut through the sweet white chocolate, plus a layer of crispy bits.
  • Mt. Fuji Sandwich Cookie – 2 cute Fuji-shaped cookies sandwiched together with sweet cream. The perfect little treat with a cup of tea.

Sakuraco – Wonders of Nagano

Escape to the mountains of Nagano with this month’s Sakuraco snack box. Nagano Prefecture is famous for its apples, and the sweet treats included highlight that in abundance, alongside other delicious seasonal flavours. Each monthly box contains 20 traditional, authentic, and artisan Japanese snacks from local snack makers across Japan, including Japanese teas, a special Japanese tableware item and a full colour booklet. For this month’s box, there’s flavours like apple, chestnut, walnut and grape, plus Melon Hojicha tea and a Saga Shippo Plate. 2 items aren’t suitable for vegetarians.

Emma’s Favourites

  • Mitarashi Mochi – One of my absolute favourite snacks in Japan is mitarashi dango, so these were a treat. I love the combination of bouncy mochi and the sweet and salty sauce in the centre.
  • Apple Pie Danish – I was recommended to heat this up before eating and I think that brought out the flavours in the pastry and the apple filling even more. Extremely delicious.
  • Apple Manju – This is the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea, with a subtle apple flavour and a beautifully soft melt-in-your-mouth texture. Plus, the packaging was very pretty.
  • Chestnut Pie – I loved the flavour of this little pie as the filling gave me a very autumnal feeling and the pastry was golden and flaky.
  • Apple Cookie – I really enjoyed the apple products in this month’s box and this cookie was simple but delicious. A beautiful buttery cookie, with a great apple flavour. I could’ve eaten a whole packet!
