Count down to Christmas and make December more fun with these kawaii advent calendars. You’ll get a little treat every day, from plush and stationery to snacks and collectibles and all these picks have high quality, official and exclusive items. It might seem early but they often sell out fast so you’ll need to secure your favourite soon. Click through to see more photos of the calendars and contents.
My own choice this year is Pusheen Meowy Christmas as I spotted it on a pre-order offer at Forbidden Planet (UK). As you can see, it already arrived and is surprisingly big with a tri-fold design to fit all ’25 Pockets of Surprises’. The contents are promised to be 4 puffy stickers, 4 magnets, 4 ornaments, 4 mini greeting cards, 4 pins, 2 mini puzzles, 2 magnetic page clips, and an illustrated mini book! It’s available from lots of other sites too including Amazon (UK/US). If you just want to see what’s inside, I’ll be opening mine on Instagram stories throughout December.
There’s also a similar Gudetama calendar made by the same company, for ‘A Very Meh-rry Christmas’ with the same mix of surprises. Get it from Amazon (UK/US) and Forbidden Planet (UK).
For a very special December, all our favourite Japanese snack boxes have made advent calendars. Tokyo Treat’s Slice of Japan: 24 Days of Adventure has Japan-exclusive snacks, collectibles, figurines, and anime keychains, while their sister box Sakuraco inspires the Ryokan Retreat: 14 Days of Traditional Japan with 7 Made in Japan homeware, artisan keepsakes, Japanese tea and wagashi sweets & treats. (both JP)
Over at Japan Crate’s Sugoi Mart (JP), there’s a new 30 Days of Japan Calendar filled with Japanese characters and brands, including stationery, figurines, plushies, toys, snacks, candy, tea, home goods, and traditional items.
Or Bokksu (JP) have 2 very fancy advent calendars. Golden Japan above has 24 Days of Japanese Delights with unique snacks and handcrafted collectibles. There’s also Radiant Japan with 12 Days of Japanese Wonders, a luxury calendar for an eye-watering $499!
Squishmallows fans should snap up a Micromallow Advent Calendar. There’s 12 and 24 day versions, both filled with mini plushies in seasonal designs. They’re both available from the Squishmallows Amazon store (UK/US).
There’s a new Smoko Friends Plush Advent Calendar (US) with 12 festive plushies of the Smoko characters like Tayto Potato and Lil B Dumpling. They all look so cute and have hanging loops so you can use them as Christmas tree decorations.
Legami (EU) have a Christmas Countdown Advent Calendar that looks like a dream come true for stationery lovers. There’s 24 drawers to open, all filled with their original cute and clever stationery products including a unique erasable pen, pencil sharpeners, clips, highlighters, pens, pins, and Christmas-themed products. You can also reuse it next year with your own treats.
Stickii (US) have released new 25 Days of STICKII Advent Calendars with a choice of 3 different styles – cute, vintage or pop. The calendars come in the form of an exclusive illustrated ring binder, filled with decorative envelopes to open with 25 original artist-designed sticker sheets.
Crocheters in the EU can get something to make every day with the Ricorumi crochet advent calendar at Rico Design (EU shipping only). There’s 24 doors to open, each with yarn and accessories for a small seasonal project. They have other fun calendars too including a wooden sliding calendar with a little snowman you move along every day! PS. The Woobles (US) also have a super cute crochet calendar that we featured earlier and is on sale now.
If you prefer to pick your own little treats, the Pokemon Center (UK/US) has a lovely Wood Countdown Calendar that even lights up, making for a cute decoration. Theres 24 drawers to fill and it should last you many years.
Some of the advent calendars from previous years’ posts are back in stock, plus there’s some craft kits/patterns & DIYs. I’m glad to see the Flying Tiger DIY projects calendar (global) is back – I had enormous fun making this last year and can recommend it.
