YumeTwins Kawaii Subscription Box Review

Posted on October 4, 2017 by

It’s been a year since we last checked out the YumeTwins kawaii subscription box. They’ve been making quite a few changes so I was happy to get the chance to see what’s new.

The YumeTwins kawaii box now contains 6-8 large items featuring only high quality authentic goods featuring your favourite Japanese characters. These could include plushies, squishies, practical goods, kawaii stationery & more.

The box and branding have also had a redesign to be even cuter! I love the purple and aqua colour scheme and the illustrations are so kawaii. As always, it arrived super quickly from Japan in less than a week. Let’s have a look inside!

Round Dog Kawaii Plush

The biggest item is a cuddly round plushie and it really is round! There are five different animals that could be in the box and I got a floppy eared brown dog. He’s very soft and huggable with lots of cute details.

Amuse Higemanju Cat Pouch

This cat might also be cuddly but it’s useful too as it’s a pouch! Again, there are five different breeds available and mine is a super soft white cat with a bell collar. The pouch has a secure clasp opening and there’s a decent amount of space inside. There’s also a strap so you can wear it like a bag. While it’s not going to work as an everyday bag, it would be a cute accessory for a special occasion or event.

Hello Kitty Halloween Donut Squishy

You can’t have an October box without some spooky cuteness! I’m not generally a big fan of squishies but this might be my favourite item in the box. It features Hello Kitty as a colourful pumpkin donut and pretty satisfying to squeeze. I’ve hung it up as a decoration on my Halloween mantelpiece display.

Cardcaptor Sakura Pillow Case

I’m going to lose some kawaii points here as I’m not very familiar with Cardcaptor Sakura, a Japanese manga and anime series. I’m going to add it to my reading list right now! I don’t think it matters though as this pillowcase is super cute, whether or not you know the characters, and it’s nice to get something a bit different from the usual toys and accessories. It’s made from a soft silky fabric and the colours are really bright so it would definitely cheer up your bedroom.

Sumikko Gurashi Lanyard

It’s no secret that I love Sumikko Gurashi so I was very happy to see this lanyard! The pattern is so cute and features all the gang with a home theme. It’s a really well-made lanyard too with plastic clip, metal clasp and a charm loop. Lanyards are a great way to add a little bit of kawaii to even the most boring office job but since I work at home, I’ll save mine for events.

My Melody Memo Pad

And finally, some stationery! This cute little square notepad features My Melody with a sweet pastel design. While it’s nothing majorly exciting, it’s the perfect size for lists and little notes so is sure to get some use.

Another change to the box is that there’s no longer a little magazine included, just a flyer. Instead you can access the zine online with a special password. That’s a little sad as I always enjoyed the magazines, but it makes sense to save the money for better quality items instead of a magazine that people probably only read once.

YumeTwins subscription box review

Overall, I’m really impressed with the changes to YumeTwins. The items are all really high quality and there’s a nice mix of plush, accessories, stationery and homeware. With a smaller item count, there’s a higher chance that you won’t like anything, but with so many recognisable kawaii characters, I think it would be unlikely to happen.  If I’d bought this box myself, the only things I might regift are the pillowcase and dog plush (because I’m a cat person!).
