MCM Scotland Comic Con 2017

While Nicolette has visited MCM London Comic Con a couple of times, I always seem to miss my local one, but I finally made it along to MCM Scotland this weekend. My bad luck continued though so I only managed a short visit – thank you lingering cold and huge transport delays! I did have fun though, so here’s all the cute stuff I spotted.

MCM Scotland - Tofu Cute

Tofu Cute

We’re slightly deprived of kawaii in Scotland so I made a beeline for Tofu Cute‘s super kawaii stand. As always, there was tons of fluffy Amuse plush and Japanese candy to tempt me.

MCM Scotland - Japan Centre

Japan Centre

Japan Centre have just opened a huge new flagship store in London and brought a small portion of it to Glasgow. I loved all these tiny plushies and they even had melon pan bread!

MCM Scotland - Ellen Stubbings

Ellen Stubbings

I spent most of my time in the Comic Village checking out all the indie comic artists and illustrators. Ellen Stubbings was my favourite find with all the things I love – bunnies, cats, ghost and space! I’m slightly regretting not buying that space bunny vase but she does have an Etsy shop too.

MCM Scotland - Katie White Art

Katie White Art

Katie White Art also had a stall full of kawaii with prints, stickers and more. Check them all out on Etsy.

MCM Scotland - Brogan Coral

Brogan Coral

I love when an artist has a really recognisable style and Brogan Coral‘s colour palette ties everything together so well. You can buy them as prints, stickers, pins and more.

MCM Scotland - Tasty Peach Studios

Korekuta

On my way back to the exit I was very surprised to spot a wall of Tasty Peach Studios‘ adorable plushies. Turns out it was a local stockist Korekuta! It was so cool to see them all in person and Korekuta have an online store too so UK & EU fans can now buy Meowchi, Nomwhals, Sea Bunnies and more without paying customs fees- rejoice!

MCM Scotland purchases

I was quite restrained with my purchases but I love everything so much. The comic and badges from Ellen Stubbings are my favourites – I really enjoyed reading the comic. I also picked up Yuzu ramune and Colorful Shower Pocky from Tofu Cute and a sweet ceramic cat spoon from Doki Japanese Tableware.

MCM Scotland cosplay

While it’s quite a small convention, MCM Scotland is still definitely worth a visit for locals. As well as all the shopping, there’s signings, talks, cosplay parade and much more. A lot of the bigger stalls can be found at all MCM events with London coming up next at the end of October – get your tickets soon as they’re selling fast.
