YumeTwins Subscription Box Review

Posted on July 18, 2016 by

There’s been a lot of new Japanese candy boxes lately so it’s nice to see something different with a box full of kawaii. YumeTwins is a new monthly subscription box from TokyoTreat full  of everything kawaii and cute! You can expect to receive plushies and squishies, collectible keychains and figures, stationery and accessories.

Even the box is adorable in a pretty lavender colour covered in kawaii illustrations. The contents are themed around yume kawaii culture – “a mixture of cuteness, fairytales and, importantly, a touch of darkness (yami)!” They also promise that all items are fully licensed merchandise from Japanese brands.

There’s only one size of box which contains 8-10 items. Inside I found a Sailor Moon plushie, Kamio mini towel, Prism Paradise heart case, Funassyi diorama stickers, Kamio mini panda memo pad, Gudetama coin purse & charm and C’est bon star ring.

The main item is one of 4 Sailor Moon plush dolls. I’ve still never seen Sailor Moon (I know! It’s on my list) so I had to check and this is Sailor Neptune. It’s a really good quality plushie as she sits up by herself and has lots of cute details on her clothes.

Look at those adorable big eyes! Usually with plushies like this there are some loose threads and wonky bits but she really is perfect.

Gudetama is super popular just now and there are two items in the box. The coin purse is nice quality and really colourful and shiny with a super cute design. I love blind boxes, even though I never get the one I want most. Gudetama with a moustache is very SCK though.

If you like pink pretty things you’ll love this box. I really like how everything is themed and not just a random assortment of stuff. The little hand towel is really thick with cute embroidered details and great for carrying around or decorating your bathroom. The ring is another blind box and while made of plastic it’s a sparkly fun little extra.

The compact has a mirror inside plus a compartment that would be handy for jewellery, hairbands or other things that get lost in your bag, or just for your emergency sweets (they’re included in the box).

I’ve never been that keen on Funassyi but he was all over the place in Japan and won me over. This sticker set is actually my favourite thing in the box. You get all these cute puffy stickers and a diorama too.

It’s made of very glossy card so you can arrange your stickers however you like to make a display. I think it’s really cute and love the 3D popups.

Stationery fans also get a mini memo pad with a cute mochi panda design. It’s got two different page designs inside and is perfect for sending little notes to friends.

You also get a cute full colour booklet with details of all the items in the box plus contests and fashion articles.

I would say this is definitely the best kawaii subscription box I’ve seen. The themes are well done and all the items are high quality from brands like Sanrio, Rement and Kamio, with Amuse, San-x, Neko Atsume, Pusheen and Ghibli items hinted at for future boxes. I especially liked that you get the fun of opening your box, plus the surprise of blind boxes too. It really feels like a little shopping spree on Harajuku’s Takeshita Street.

As with TokyoTreat boxes, all subscribers are entered to win a special YumePrize box with extra special items. This is what’s up for grabs in August, where the theme is Lovable Animals and includes an Alpacasso plushie and Pom Pom Purin.

You can sign up now for August and SCK readers can also get $5 off your subscription with the code CUTEKAWAII. Subscriptions are $29.99 per month including shipping worldwide, with discounts for longer subscriptions.

You should check out Nandemobox and WowBox Kawaii. They both have great contents.
