Japan Matsuri is an event celebrating Japanese culture that takes place every September in London and is free!

I’d been before when it was at Spitalfields Market but it was very different held in Trafalgar Square. It was extremely busy – the queues for the food stalls were crazy long! – and there was a lot more entertainment.

I really wanted to see the mascots but I also enjoyed the Radio Taiso exercises (just like Animal Crossing!), the Japanese dancing and the dog show.

After a delicious pumpkin croquette and some mango shaved ice, I had a quick browse of the stalls and bought a Kumamon badge from the CharaZOO stall. Then it was time for the mascots!

It was so exciting to see the Japanese mascots in real life. They had five including the famous black bear, Kumamon. He wasn’t the cutest one there but he was certainly the most entertaining! All the mascots were introduced then did a dance to their own theme song. They were definitely the highlight of the day for me.
